Brett I. Miller has been appointed to serve as the Barnes Foundation's general counsel. Miller is currently a partner at the firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius in its Washington, D.C. office. Miller has begun his work with the Barnes Foundation on a part-time basis, and will assume his duties full-time in January 2010.
Miller received his J.D. in 1995 from the University of Virginia. He served as a post-graduate law clerk in the General Counsels Office of The Museum of Modern Art in 1995. Prior to attending law school, he worked on graduate-level studies in art history at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts and at Columbia University. He also served as the associate curator of collections of the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach, Fla. He earned his B.A. in art history from Emory University in 1985.
Miller's work in private practice has been focused on intellectual property and corporate transactional matters, as well as related litigation. He is a frequent writer and speaker on museum legal issues.
Elected and Appointed
The Graham Company, a Philadelphia-based insurance brokerage and risk management consultancy, has announced that Vice President and General Counsel A. Peter Prinsen has been elected to the company's board of directors. As general counsel, Prinsen works with over 35 people who help in the servicing of the company's insureds by monitoring claims and advising on coverage and claims matters.
He is a graduate of Villanova Law School and Penn State University, where he graduated with high honors. He practiced insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation with a major center city law firm before joining The Graham Company in 1989.
